An excellent result which lifted Leeds up to 10th in the table with 10 points from 6 matches. Always a tricky place for Leeds to go to we had to weather the storm early on as Millwall bombarded us without getting any shots of note in. A breakaway goal on 15 minutes saw us go from our own penalty area and ended with Piroe stroking the ball home after being played in by Rutter.
Millwall huffed and puffed but barely threatened and two further counter attacking goals gave Leeds a very pleasing 3-0 scoreline. The manner of the goals bringing back memories of the free flowing football under Bielsa where we could turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye. Many aspects were pleasing, consecutive clean sheets, a goal for the extremely happy looking Rutter and 2 more goals for our big money signing Piroe.
With Farke's recruitment looking excellent so far with Rodon, Byram, Ampadu, Piroe all having excellent games it looks like the squad has a lot of promise as well as depth. As well as flair there looks to be some steel too and it is worth noting that Bielsa's Leeds side failed to win at Millwall (a 1-1 draw thanks to a last minute Jack Harrison equaliser and a 2-1 loss in our 2 visits). Rodon looks to be a steady acquisition at the back and whilst he may not be as good on the ball as the loan signing we had when we last got promoted, Ben White, he seems likely to be able to make up for it with determination and desire - there is always something that makes you warm to a defender who stays on the pitch wearing a blooded head bandage. The smiles on the players faces shows that we have a happy and united squad. If Farke can keep us playing this way and keep everyone happy then automatic promotion is certainly a strong possibility.
