Leeds take on a Hull side that find themselves 5th in the table, one point above Leeds and with an identical goals for and against. I think it would be fair to say that Hull weren't many people's pick to be in the play-off places but such is the nature of the division that any team is capable of doing well or finding themselves struggling - who would have predicted Luton getting promoted last season or Preston being top this season?
Hull's most impressive result saw them beating Leicester away 1-0. The stats though would suggest it was a classic case of smash and grab with Leicester failing to score from 21 shots although noticeably only 1 of those shots was on target. Hull had 7 shots in the match but had 4 on target. My feeling is that we may well see Hull trying to park the bus against us, despite them being the home team, and looking to frustrate us and hit us on the break.
Farke's team selection may well see a couple of players being rested. Ampadu took a knock and it may be that Farke decides to rest a player that has been a vital cog this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Byram rested too given that he has just come back from injury and Farke may be wary of playing him 3 times in a week. As such I expect Shackleton to come in for Byram and one of either Ampadu or Gray rested. I wouldn't be surprised to see either Gnonto or Summerville (or both) rested too with James and Anthony literally waiting in the wings! I would expect to see Rodon start as long as his head injury isn't too serious. Up front I would expect to see Rutter and Piroe continuing their blossoming bromance. 5 goals between them in the 3 games they have played together is excellent and their link up play and friendship seems to be developing nicely - it as great to see Rutter playing with a smile on his face instead of the weary look of a young man trying to justify his ridiculous price tag.
An early goal would be great and hopefully allow us to dictate play. However Sunday was the first time all season that we had scored the opening goal in a match and ROme wasn't built in a day. I can see it being a frustrating evening but hopefully we will be good enough to find a goal or two and take home the points.
